You need to be comfortable with your mentor and he/she will guide you seamlessly through the many pitfalls associated with affiliate marketing. You will also be advised on what products to purchase to help you move faster.

Create a business plan. Just like in offline marketing, you need to be clear on where your business is going. Write down realistic goals and have a plan to follow these goals. A good affiliate marketing mentor should help you create a business plan that outlines such things as budget, revenue objective and time span required to meet your overall plan as well as whether you want to be in the affiliate marketing business on a part time or a full time basis

Establish an affiliate program. Usually by working with your affiliate marketing business mentor, you will already have set in motion the process of establishing the right affiliate program for you. These affiliate programs can be free to start with or cost thousands of dollars. At least when you start with a free program, what you can only loose is your time. So don’t start with an affiliate program that is way above your budget. Free affiliate programs are only free up to the point where you feel that you have learned enough.

The programs also recommend paid up services but budget friendly products. An example is the affiliate program that I started with, though free to join had a precondition of buying hosting space. As such it recommended one of the best hosting packages available at an introductory price of $1.00 for the first month. So by the time, I got to paying out for the “real price” of the hosting, I was already generating enough revenue from the program

Finally stick to your affiliate program and make it work. The secret to success is to focus on one thing and don’t quit. By implementing the tactics that you have learned from your affiliate program, you already are nine miles into your journey of ten miles.
